Ever wondered how some people stay motivated to train 4+ times a week, all year round, for YEARS? I’ve spent time with pro athletes and high performers in the gym. They all share three key characteristics. And you can develop them in yourself. Here’s their (not so secret) secret…
Have a CLEAR goal
You’ll find that the most successful and motivated people in the gym have a VERY specific goal. It might not be anything massive, but it’s dialled in to the last detail.
Take their lead: what do you want to achieve? Why? Get specific. Keep digging and drilling down until you end up with a clear goal that you will be able to track and measure.
Look at your progress
Progress is the ultimate motivation. Stay excited about regular training and healthy living habits by congratulating yourself for every bit of progress along the way.
Take their lead: successful people track things so they can see how far they’ve come. Write things down, track on an app, take photos. Use social media or a journal.
Challenge yourself!
Keep stretching yourself. Growth comes when you push just outside of your comfort zone. And that’s motivating. If you keep training the same way year on year, you’ll lose your mojo.
Take their lead: try a new form of training, set a strength goal, enter an event, or get a coach – keep pushing yourself!
